Reviews
The experience of fine dining without the price tag. Extremely well presented food, perfectly cooked and full of taste. Do try the charcuterie board as a starter, that was very enjoyable. The pastas are slightly aldente which is the authentic Italian way! Definitely coming back here for the tiramisu.
Lovely restaurant in the heart of Italy. The meal is served traditionally, with a pasta dish first and a meat dish second. I had the pecorino souffle with caramelized onions to start, and would recommend it.
Stumbled upon this place while on the way to check another place for lunch. Very glad I stopped to try. Very tasty food.
umbricelli with sausage meat and pecorino
grilled lamb chops
not on the menu ricotta cheesecake with raspberry which was really good.
This restaurant was recommended to us by friends. The food was fabulous and excellent value for money. However we nearly didn't eat here after waiting to be seated for several minutes with no acknowledgement.
Service was efficient albeit a bit abrupt.
An absolute must if you are in Perugia! The food and staff was amazing and it was suxh a perfect italian vibe there!
The restaurant, kind of hidden behind the main piazza in Perugia, is open for dinner only. Even though we were there on a Monday, by 8:15 the outside tables were taken/reserved, so we went inside. In retrospect, that was a good choice - very pleasant and interesting place.
The food was superb. We had the cheese&cold cuts board, that was tasty. For the main dish we had the pork belly with apples&cabbage, which was very good, and the veal cheeks that was out of this word.
We shared half liter of house red wine, which was very pleasant and complemented the meat dishes well.
Espresso and tiramisu rounded out the meal.
Overall, probably the best meal we had in the last 3 weeks of travel.
Nice ristorante tucked away off the piazza in Perugia Central Old Town
Portion sizes were suited to having all 3 courses but I suspect if you let them know exactly how many courses they'll adjust accordingly
I had strappazata with tartufi nero to start, was good but I have an inkling that the dish was left slightly longer at the pass than anticipated as the top of the eggs were just a touch drier than the rest. Very minor criticism though the dish itself was moist and tasty
For the second plate i had the mezzemaniche
With pecorino , fave beans, and crispy pancetta pieces.
Very good wonderful combination of textures and the fave were just right. Recommended
For the meat I went with a veal tartar with quails egg and a cream sauce with pecorino and black truffle slices (see photo)
Very tasty but obviously only if your taste profile extends to tartar. This was delicious and a fitting final plate, did not have a dessert as I'm not of a particularly sweet tooth but the pistacchi crema looked good.
The food we paired with a sagrantino x2 at a whopping 16%abv! Which was very drinkable, if mildly on the sweet side.
We were in 6 and the overall cost came to around 40€ pp definitely worth it
Good selection of wines and I can also recommend Birra Perugia golden ale.
Would go again
This little ristorante was just a few steps away from the main street, so it was very cosy. The service was friendly and the surroundings and atmosphere very nice. Our antipasti was delicious and something new: souffle with pecorino and caramellized red onion. It was a perfect mix of salty and sweet flavours. Our primi piatti pastas were also very tasty. Only the wine was not good, we should have asked another bottle. It was our own fault though. Can't blame the staff, because they can't know unless we told them. I can recommend this restaurant sincerely!
